The Creation of Knowledge

Kevin Larkins is a musician by trade, and while recording an album, any down time he and his bandmates had was spent playing board games. As they played more and more, Kevin began wanting a battle-oriented deck-building game that also had an old-school, fantasy feel. He couldn't find the game he envisioned so in early 2015, fueled by his idea, he stayed up very late one night cutting up an old Amazon shipping box and forming crude cards that would become the first Knowledge prototype. His bandmates loved the game, but obviously needed something slightly easier to play with regularly than cardboard so he ordered some blank cards, grabbed some dollar store sharpies and got to the arduous task of writing out and coloring each card.

This second prototype of Knowledge became the band's go-to game and everything quickly evolved from there. Soon Kevin met Laura Whittier, a Los Angeles based artist. Kevin and Laura collaborated on designing a world that featured both a diverse cast of characters and strong, realistic, female warriors.

Laura then created all of the illustrations, hand painting each one on canvas with acrylics, and designed the cards to pair the game ideas with the old-school fantasy element.

Since then Kevin and Laura have managed every step and have had complete control of this project. One of the major goals has been  to create a high quality game experience while trying to keep the cost of the game reasonable for everyone. For instance, small details such as good box design or real stones instead of plastic, have been important to them to pursue, not only to make the world of Knowledge come alive but also to make customers feel that they are getting a quality game.

Knowledge the game is available to pre-order now and comes with a free gift of your choice! Check it out
